  • Content: This presentation will set the stage for panel discussion I, providing expert analysis of the current state of Somalia’s Agri-value chains and highlighting strengths, weaknesses and growth opportunities.

 

Presentation II:

EU investment in agri-value chains – success stories

  • Presented by: Mrs. Caroline Adriaensen – European Union Head of Cooperation to Somalia

Content: This presentation will highlight some outcomes/results from previous EU-supported value chain initiatives for the agricultural sector.

Panel Discussion I – Critical Infrastructure for Somali Productive Sectors: Building a Stronger Foundation

  1. Content: An interactive discussion focusing on critical both physical (e.g., irrigation systems, storage facilities, transportation networks) and quality infrastructure needs within the agricultural value chain, including effective regulatory frameworks for agri-inputs quality, product quality, seed inspection and certification standards. Experts will explore investment opportunities for public-private partnerships to address these needs and improve overall efficiency of the value chains.
  2. The discussion will also touch on role of government in creating and maintaining enabling business environment to promote investment, including fast tracked business registration and licensing processes, tax incentives for import of agricultural input and export of output.
